A Picture from the Vigil for Justice and Last Year's Hunger Strike

I made this sign last year during an adrenalin filled day at the Hunger Strike for Justice. It explains why I am there. I held the sign, or propped it against a back pack on the ground, but it toppled over in the wind. There is always wind at Holy Cross.

I am constantly learning (and like that), so this year I punched holes in the top of the sign figuring I’d wear the sign around my neck. Then I went looking for a rope or string or something, and came up short. There has to be something…. But I just had some twine, which looked very flimsy. Oh, I remembered. There is some pink ribbon in that plastic box of bows and wrapping paper upstairs…. I forgot why I ever bought pink ribbon — wrapped something long ago — but because I haven’t used it much since, I had it available for my sign!

That’s why I have a pink ribbon on the sign and around my neck. It makes me laugh, so I keep it.
