There have been far worse problems with civil rights violations by the president’s office and the staff of the college than by students at Holy Cross. But often the acts of students create better images — long after the violation, there is still an image to capture.
Three times in just the last five days the sign was in use, students at Holy Cross have attacked this sign. The first time they tore it down and threw it and another sign into a trash can by the field house on campus. The next time, they ripped it but left it. Today they tore it down again. I’ll write more about the significance of this sign on another day soon. In a few days I will have this message on five or six signs at the vigil.
